Scope Note: Park County, Wyoming.

Location of the Valley Ranch, owned originally by James L. McLaughlin. It became a famous "dude ranch" in the early 1900's managed by I. H. Larom. (WSL) Valley Post Office was established on April 30, 1900 in Big Horn County, prior to the formation of Park County. James L. McLaughlin was the first postmaster. It was discontinued on June 30, 1959 and its mail then handled by the Cody Post Office. (Wyoming Post Offices) Small country postoffice in Big Horn County. Mail from Cody, the nearest town of importance. Stockraising the leading industry. Population, 30. (Wyoming State Business, 1901-02) Big Horn County. A post office 110 miles southwest of Basin, the county seat, and 54 miles southwest of Cody, the shipping point. Mail tri-weekly. (Gazetteer, 1908-9) Small country postoffice in Park County, 50 miles southwest from Cody, the nearest town of importance. Stockraising the leading industry. (Wyoming State Business Directory, 1910-11) Postoffice and "Dude Ranch" in Park County, 50 miles southwest of Cody, the county seat, railroad and banking point.
