01.01.02 Silent Witness Program, 1998
Scope and Contents
The Silent Witness Program is a Wyoming initiative that is committed to raising public awareness about domestic violence. The initiative is called the Silent Witness Initiative – ZERO by 2010. Its mission is to promote peace, healing and responsibility in adult relationships in order to eliminate domestic murders in the US by 2010. Life-size wooden silhouettes representing the women murdered as a result of domestic violence were made by inmates of the Wyoming Women’s Center. The silhouettes are used during ceremonies, and marches, and at domestic violence informational exhibits.
Records include a 1998 program booklet, event flyers, information and facts sheets, event schedules, news releases and articles, governor’s proclamation draft, Silent Witness meeting minutes, and a form letter written by the State Attorney General to Wyoming Legislators.
