Scope and Content
Civil, criminal, combined, and family violence dockets and case files from the Laramie County Justice of the Peace Courts. Cases heard by the Justice of the Peace Courts involved misdemeanor charges. Felony cases were either dismissed or bound over to the County District Court. Cases heard by the County Courts could involve either misdemeanor or low-level felony charges.

Laramie County Justice of the Peace and County Court records as maintained by the Wyoming State Archives consist of civil, criminal , and family violence court records. They were originally filed with the Justice of the Peace or County Court in Laramie County.
Arrangement of the Collection
The collection is divided into twelve series including: Burns Justice of the Peace records, Carpenter Justice of the Peace records, Cheyenne Justice of the Peace records, Cheyenne Justice of the Peace precinct 1 records, Cheyenne Justice of the Peace precinct 2 records, Fort Laramie Justice of the Peace records, Glendo Justice of the Peace records, Hartville Justice of the Peace records, Laramie County Court records, Lusk Justice of the Peace records, and Wheatland Justice of the Peace records

Records were transferred in multiple groups from 1975 through the present
