Guide to the Uinta County Justice of the Peace and County Court records
Scope and Content
Civil, criminal, and combined dockets and case files, marriage licenses, indices, monthly reports and administrative records from the Uinta County Justice of the Peace Courts and Uinta County Court. Cases heard by the Justice of the Peace Courts involved misdemeanor charges. Felony cases were either dismissed or bound over to the County District Court. Cases heard by the County Courts could involve either misdemeanor or low-level felony charges.

Uinta County Justice of the Peace and County Court records as maintained by the Wyoming State Archives consist of civil, criminal ,family sservices and combined court records. They were originally filed with the Justice of the Peace and County Courts in Uinta County.
Arrangement of the Collection
The collection is divided into ten series including: Almy Justice of the Peace records, Bridger Valley Justice of the Peace records, Evanston Justice of the Peace records, Hilliard Justice of hte Peace records, Jackson Justice of the Peace records, Kemmerer Justice of the Peace records, Piedmond Justice of the Peace records, Spring Valley Justice of the Peace records, Uinta County Court-Bridger Valley records, and Uinta County Court-Evanston records
Acquisition Information
Records were transferred in multiple groups from 1977 through 1998
