Biographical Note

Born in Cheyenne in 1904, George F. Guy spent most of his life in the capitol city. Guy graduated with a law degree in 1927 from the University of Wyoming. An active alumnus, especially during the 1950-51 football season when the team went to Florida to play in the Gator Bowl, Guy served as president of the Alumni Association. Guy=s private law practice career was interrupted by WWII. George Guy served in a number of capacities for the United States military, including a stint with the Judge Advocate General=s Department and involvement with the Wyoming National Guard. He acted as part of the defense team after WWII for Lt. Gen. Tomoyuki Yamashita who commanded the Imperial Army in the Philippines. Running as a Republican in 1948 for State Representative, Cheyenne citizens elected Guy to the Thirtieth State Legislature. He attained the position of Attorney General in 1955, but resigned that post in July of 1957. Guy and his partners founded the private law practice Guy, Williams, White and Argeris in Cheyenne. His avid interest in polo led him to help found the Cheyenne Polo Club in 1972. George Guy and his wife, Lucille, had a daughter named Gina, who followed in her father’s footsteps to practice law in Cheyenne. Due to complications from a fall near a swimming pool, George Guy died on April 28, 1980.
