Biographical Note

Cyrus Currier was born May 13, 1812 in Salisbury, MA. He settled in New Jersey in about 1835, and established a plant known as Currier, Davis and Jacobus in March 1842. The firm name later changed to Currier and Sanford, then Cyrus Currier, and ultimately Cyrus Currier and Sons. He built a lithograph press for his cousin Nathaniel Currier (Currier and Ives). He had a blacksmith shop, foundry and machine shop in Newark, NJ. He married Nancy Maria Roper in Lowell, MA on October 2, 1936. After her death on October 28, 1853, he married Charlotte Axford in Newark, NJ on April 26, 1857. She later died in Newark on September 25, 1902.

Loaned for microfilming circa March 2, 1962 (MA 1463) from "Newark State in New Jersey." Scanned from microfilm roll on January 5, 2017. The location of the original diary/journal has not been determined at this time. But it may be filed at Rutgers University in Newark, NJ
