Historical Note

According to the Society’s brochure, membership was open to all citizens of Cheyenne. The Society endeavored to assist with the war effort at home by "waging war against the enemy within our gates, the spies, the preachers of sedition, the fermenters of industrial disturbance…." The Society was an auxiliary of the National Defense Society. One Hundred Percent American Societies like this one were organized in nearly every town in Wyoming during WWI.
