Biographical Note

Robert G. Shingle was born in 1855 in Pennsylvania. In 1868, he arrived in Cheyenne to work for the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) and became a conductor. According to his obituary, Shingle was the passenger conductor between Cheyenne and Green River for many years and retired from the UPRR not long before his death in 1916. Shingle served in the Wyoming Legislature from 1913-1915, a freemason, and a member of the Order of Railway Conductors.
