Historical Note
Johnson County was created in 1875 under the name of Pease from portions of Carbon and Sweetwater Counties. On December 13, 1879, the Sixth Legislative Assembly, changed the name to Johnson County. The county was organized in 1881. Buffalo is the county seat.
