Biographical Note
Lillian Frances Leisenring Templin was born in Arizona in 1888. She and her two siblings, Emily Amelia (born 1884)and Ed Warren (born circa 1886), toured the country performing in vaudville productions during their childhood and early adult lives. The family moved between mining camps in the Rocky Mountains, especially Colorado, before briefly settling in Denver around 1892. Here, the family became acquainted with Fred Stone, a famous entertainer at the turn of the 20th century, who took an interest the three children and mentored them in acting, singing, and acrobatics. Finding the name Leisenring hard to market, each eventually used their first and middle names for stage names: Lillian Francis and Ed Warren.
Walter Pell was the step-father of the Leisenring children.
Around 1911, Emily retired from acting and married Dr. Peter Appel, Sr. The couple settled in Cheyenne are buried in Beth El Cemetery in that city.
Lillian and Ed continued to tour as a brother-sister act until 1915, when Lillian met and married Curtis Templin, breaking up the act. Around this time, Templin left his job with the Stock Growers National Bank to become manager of the Swan Land and Cattle Company in Chugwater where the couple made thier home. Later in life, they spent part of the year living at the Frontier Hotel in Cheyenne, but maintained their home ranch in Chugwater. They had one daughter, Lillian Templin Paulson. Lillian Frances died in 1982 and she and her husband are buried in Beth El Cemetery in Cheyenne.
Ed continued to perform, spending most of the 1920s partnered with Charles O'Brien. At some point, Warren married a fellow performer who later died of Tuberculosis. He never remarried. Warren had used Cheyenne as his home base since a performance at the Atlas Theatre in 1909. When he left showbiz, he settled permenently in Cheyenne and went into business. In 1934, Warren was elected city Commissioner of Parks and Finance and Mayor for two terms begining in 1940, and an additional six months following the resignation of Mayor Ben Nelson in 1951. By 1943, he had entered into real estate and continued in that line until his death in 1963 and is also buried in Beth El Cemetery in Cheyenne.
