Historical Note

The Transcontinental Air Mail Reliability Test was a proof of concept test flight performed by the Air Service of the War Department. The success of the flight led to the implementation of the inital Air Mail route which followed the Union Pacific Railroad route. This included several stops across southern Wyoming, including Cheyenne, Wyoming, where these letters were delivered to Governor Robert D. Carey.

As a part of the test, dignitaries were able to write letters that would be delivered along the route. These are two such letters sent by U.S. Senator Francis E. Warren and U.S. Representative Frank Mondell who both represented Wyoming in Congress.
