Historical Note
According the the letter accompanying the book, "The USO Saigon closed this month [February 1973] after 10 years of being a "home away from home" for hundreds of thousands of servicemen... Over the years, we have had state books in which the men could register and perhaps find a friend from home who was still "in-country". In clearing things out, we could not bear to throw away these signatures of some of the servicemen who made the USO what it was." The location in Siagon was the last of the 23 USOs in operation in Vietnam and closed in 1973 when US troops were pulled from the country by the military department.
