Crofts Family Photograph Album
Content Description
Small photo album of CDV sized photographs, many identified as members of the Crofts family. Small brown album with pearls, gold clasps, and gilt pages.
This album is possibly associated with another family photograph album also found in collection and accessioned in 2024. Though none of the photographs in the other album are identified, they are from a similar time period and some were taken by photographers in the Boone, Iowa, area where the Crofts family was known to reside.

Biographical Note
The Hobart Brainard and Cherokee Margaret Lawshe Crofts family lived in Wisconsin, Illinois, and Iowa. The couple had six children who lived to adulthood: Howard Lincoln (1860-), Newton Isaac (1864-1906), Truman William "Tom" Crofts (1866-1946), Abner Payson (1868-1962), Hannah Gertrude "Nannie" West (1872-1921), and Martha Alice "Mattie" Berkshire (1873-1941). One of the photographs suggests the family also included another child who died in 1870 just be fore his second birthday, "Bertie S. Crofts, aged 22 months, died at age 1 year, 10 months and 25 days."
Abner P. Crofts lived for a time in Rock Springs in the 1890s.
