Historical Note
Robert Henry Willis was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming, in 1869. His family moved to Omaha, Nebraska, in 1873. He became a civil engineer and worked in various county and state government positions relating to water and irrigation in Nebraska. For most of his adult life, he was lived in Bridgeport, Nebraska. In addition to his work in water, he also ran Bridgeport's first newspaper, the Bridgeport Blade, from 1903-1911, and operated a cattle ranching business from 1895-1925. Willis died in 1954 and is buried in Bridgeport.
