Guide to the William R. Barnhart Collection
Scope and Content
This collection consists of various records William Barnhart collected as a hobby. Of special interest are a series of order letters (both military and civilian) to the Sharps Rifle Company, Christmas greetings from Gen. John J. Pershing to the AEF officer staff, 1867 military correspondence and order from Forts Phil Kearney and Reno, Silver Crown Mining District report, and a transcript of an 1855 civil suit involving mountain man James Bridger

Biographical / Historical
William R. Barnhart received history degrees from the University of Wyoming and worked as a historian for the Wyoming Recreation Department from 1968 to 1971

Separated Materials
The collection originally contained letters to governors Barber, Morgan and Warren. These letters have been interfiled into the respective governor’s records
