Biographical / Historical
William Pendleton (W.P.) Ricketts was a Northern Wyoming rancher and legislator. Born on February 9, 1859 in Lexington, Kentucky, he came west at the age of 17 and found employment as a cowboy in Cheyenne in 1876. Over the next 50 years he developed a large ranch north of Gillette, Wyoming. In addition, he was superintendent of Western Union Beef Company, owner of Western Union, a Campbell County commissioner, and a state legislator (1911-12). He was married to Nettie C. Wilson (1869-1911) and Johannah Barbara Egger (1873-1941). William Pendleton Ricketts died in Sheridan on March 22, 1944
