Biographical / Historical
The civic chorus in Cheyenne was organized in the early 1920s. World War II interrupted its activities, but it became active again in the post-war years. The chorus incorporated in 1949 as the Cheyenne Community Chorus. In 1954 the Chorus and the Cheyenne Civic Symphony were incorporated as a single organization, the Cheyenne Civic Chorus and Symphony Orchestra. The group’s legal name changed again in 1969 to the Cheyenne Symphony and Choral Society. Five years later it became the Symphony and Choral Society of Cheyenne. The groups split in 1988, with many of the chorus members performing for the Capital Chorale and the Cheyenne Chamber Singers. The orchestra became the Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra
