Guide to the Virginia Bridger Hahn Collection
Scope and Content
Mrs. Minnie Stephens Brown, of Thermopolis, Wyoming, identifies herself through letters in this collection as being the daughter of an early trans-America explorer, and as the good friend of Virginia Bridger Hahn, daughter of mountain man James Bridger. She writes of her own father’s western explorations in 1845 and in 1852, and that he wrote of his adventures in a book entitled, Horns[?] Overland Guide to California, published in 1852. Mrs. Brown also writes of shared memories of James Bridger in the letters between herself and Mrs. Hahn
