Biographical / Historical
John Hartt was involved in sheep ranching in the region around Laramie and Rawlins. From small beginnings he eventually partnered with the Cosgriff Brothers and became president of the Cow Creek Sheep Company and Yellowstone Sheep Company. Ranching operations expanded to include the Hahns Peak area of Colorado. Hartt also had business interests in Rawlins. Pearl Lake, in Colorado's Pearl Lake State Park, was named after Mrs. Hartt
