Scope and Content
Small collection related to this pioneer family of Cheyenne. It consists of a small amount of correspondence, poems, and clippings. Some of the items focus on the Jenkins' 50th wedding anniversary in 1927. Also of note are an 1885 price quote for footwear from Mr. Jenkins to Fort Laramie; a 1938 letter from the National League of Women Voters concerning Mrs. Jenkins' inclusion on the State Rolls of Honor; a Cheyenne First Presbyterian Church program for December 18, 1927; a poem by Mrs. Jenkins; and newspaper clippings concerning family members

Biographical / Historical
James F. Jenkins was an early member of the Cheyenne community, serving as chief clerk in the commissary department at Camp Carlin. He later became a prominent merchant, civic leader, and justice of the peace. Mrs. Jenkins was a nationally recognized speaker and supporter of social reform
