Scope and Content

This collection of photocopied speeches, articles, radio dialogue, clippings, and correspondence reflects Brock's recognized authority on a variety of livestock issues, and his popularity as a speaker. Also included is a brief 1961 letter from Russell Thorp to Brock's widow, Janet, and a 1985 paper by Dan Hanson of Kaycee, WY, Brock's son-in-law

Biographical / Historical

J. Elmer Brock was a rancher in Johnson County, Wyoming. He was born on September 21, 1882, and died December 6, 1954. Well regarded in the livestock industry, Mr. Brock was president of the Wyoming Stock Growers Association from 1930 to 1933, and president of the American national Livestock Association from 1940 to 1941. An active member of the Republican Party, Brock lost in the 1934 primary election for a U.S. Senate seat. In 1941 he was sent with four others by the Carnegie Foundation for International Peace to visit Brazil, Uruguay, and Argentina
