 Collection — Box: 327
Identifier: H71-104

Scope and Content

This collection is comprised of various records about his professional and personal life. Included are records about the family genealogy, correspondence and notebooks about his father, William, and transcripts and newspaper articles about State of Wyoming vs. Yee Geow. Yee, a Chinese national, was found guilty of murder when he shot two men while attempting to illude capture by immigration enforcement agents in Cheyenne in 1920.

Also included is correspondence about his work with regard to John Arp and the Wherry Housing Project at Warren Air Force Base, the Commissioners on Uniform State Laws, and the Republican National Convention of 1940. Some of the letters describe the intent to use the Wherry Housing Project and Van Tassell Estates, a former temporary WWII war housing project on the south side of Cheyenne, for discriminatory housing of Black soldiers and their families.

H73-31 was added to this collection. It included 7 deeds, presumably for property owned by family members. The properties were located in Cheyenne and in Colorado. The accession also included 2 copies of a flier titled “Should the Water Board Resign?”
