Guide to the Diary of James Akin, Jr.
Scope and Content
Oregon Trail diary of James Akin, Jr. briefly detailing events, conditions, and hardships of the trail. Members of the Richey family are also mentioned.
This diary appears to be a hand-transcribed copy of the original, possibly created by Edgar Richey, who included notes in the last few pages of the diary stating "This is the last entry left by James Akin", and "This is my rememberance - Edgar Richey". The handwritting appears to be consistent throughout the entire book, including these added memories.
