Scope and Content
Elwood Mead was a civil engineer, a professor at the State Agricultural College at Fort Collins, assistant State Engineer for Colorado, Territorial and State Engineer for Wyoming, a professor at the University of California, Chairman of the State Rivers and Water Supply Commission in Melbourne, Australia, Chairman of the California Land Settlement Board, and U.S. Commissioner of Reclamation. This collection consists of correspondence from various persons and agencies concerning irrigation, instrumentation, evaporation experiments, railroad construction, references to John Wesley Powell, and personal and general matters.
