Historical Note
Organized in 1925, the Wyoming Federation of Business and Professional Women's Clubs brought together local clubs in Casper, Sheridan, Cheyenne, and Wheatland. By 1930, clubs were formed in Rawlins, Worland, Torrington, Lander, Thermopolis, Cody, and Basin. At it's height in the mid-1930s, there were 18 affiliated clubs and 510 members. These number dramatically reduced during the late 1930s, perhaps due to the effects of the Great Depression. The state federation was affiliated with the National Federation of Business and Professional Women.
The clubs and state federation provided mentor support and networking for professional women, participate in local philanthropic efforts, and to encourage all women to further their education, including offering an educational loan program. Club members worked in education, nursing, finance, state government, and other businesses.
