Guide to the Johnson County District Court Records
Scope and Content
Johnson County District Court hears felony criminal cases, civil cases including divorce proceedings, and probate cases including settlements of estates, guardianships, involuntary hospitalizations and adoptions.
Unless noted, indexes to case files have been retained by the court. Please contact the Clerk of Court for docket numbers before requesting case files.

Historical Note
Johnson County was created as Pease County in 1875 from portions of Carbon and Sweetwater Counties. Its name was changed to Johnson upon organization in 1881. The county seat is Buffalo.
