Organizational History

The Woman’s Club of Cheyenne had its origins in a literary study group organized in 1888. The group initially devoted itself to a study of English literature. The study began with the reign of Queen Anne; therefore the group adopted the name "Queen Anne Club." The Club was reorganized in 1894 as the Woman’s Club of Cheyenne. It joined the General Federation of Women’s Clubs in 1896 and the Wyoming Federation of Women’s Clubs in 1904. While the Club sought to maintain its social and cultural purposes, it also supported civic improvements and charitable causes. Because of declining membership and aging leadership, the Club disbanded in 2000.
