Guide to the Veterans of World War I of the USA, Inc. Collection
Scope and Content
The bulk of the collection dates from 1967-1990 from the Barracks Department of Wyoming, the state organization. Most of the records deal with the state convention (mainly programs and proceedings) and local barracks activities and membership. Of particular interest are membership rosters, notices about deceased members (including obituaries), minutes of the Cloud Peak Barracks 3393 in Sheridan from 1964-1983, and national convention programs and newsletters.

Historical Note
The Veterans of World War I of the United States of America, Inc., was chartered by congress in 1958 to promote fellowship, patriotism, and assistance to veterans. The Barracks Department of Wyoming was created in 1961.
At the time of donation in 1991, the Barracks Department of Wyoming had 15 members on their rolls, 10 life members and 5 paid international memebers. Only two of these were active members: William H. Campbell (donor) and Leonard D. Corbin.

The Veterans of World War I of the USA, Inc. Collection contains records pertaining to the Barracks Department of Wyoming, local chapters and the national organization.
Arrangement
The collection is divided into five subgroups: I. Barracks Department of Wyoming; II. Caspar Collins Barracks 2359; III. Cloud Peak Barracks 3393; IV. Laramie Barracks 2544; V. Veterans of World War I of the USA, Inc. Records are then organized alphabetically within each subgroup.
