Biographical Note
Dr. Fritiof M. Fryxell was a world renouned geologist, mountaineer, and long tenured professor at Augustana College. His research laid the ground work for the creation of Grand Teton National Park, where he served as the park's naturalist from 1929-1934. He was part of many of the first documented accents of the peaks in the area and he was the first to explore and document many of the canyons and lakes in what is now the park. Dr. Fryxell used this knowledge to write extensively on the geology of the park.
