02.03 Judge's Civil Dockets, 1896-1906

 File — Volume: 3

Scope and Contents

From the File:

Arrangement: Chronological by court term, then numerical by case number.

Trial dockets provide daily summaries of civil proceedings. Information includes case number, names of plaintiff and defendant, name of attorney, type of action, date of trial, and brief notes on proceedings. The value of this series is in the comment, some of which aptly summarize a day's legal activities. However, others may consist of one word ("judgment", "dismissed", etc.). In volume 11A many cases went undocumented. Because actions were recorded for a given court term, a civil case may reappear in a volume or volumes.
