Biographical / Historical
The Upper Colorado River Compact and Commission was an outgrowth of the Colorado River Compact of 1922 that established the Lower Colorado River Basin and the Upper Colorado River Basin, with the dividing point at Lees Ferry in Northern Wyoming. This division placed the states of Arizona, California and Nevada in the Lower Basin and Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming, plus the small drainage area in Northern Arizona, referred to above, in the Upper Basin.
The Wyoming Attorney General has served either as a member of the Upper Colorado River Commission or as an advisor to Wyoming's Commissioners, since the Commission was established in 1948. These records are a result of the membership on the Commission and as an official advisor.
