Scope and Contents
Portion of a manuscript on the life of George Beck, rancher, industrial pioneer, statesman, and community leader in Wyoming's Big Horn Basin and in the development of the cities of Sheridan, Buffalo, and Cody, WY.
The manuscript was submitted to the Buffalo Bill (Cody) Historical Center(BBHC) in Cody by Beck's granddaughter, Mrs. Betty Jean Gerber, for consideration as part of an exhibit the Center was proposing for the Wyoming Centennial Celebration.
Included with the manuscript and Mrs. Gerber's correspondence to the BBHC is a newspaper article on her mother, Mrs. Jane Beck Johnson (daughter of Gerorge Beck), the first baby girl born in Cody, a booklet entitled, The Journal of Arts - Volunteerism in the Arts, in which Mrs. Gerber is listed as a contributing author, and a synopsis of a historic preservation project she and her husband were working on in Washington, D. C., at the time of the manuscript's submission to the BBHC.
