Scope and Contents

Incoming and outgoing correspondence concerning two explosions in Hanna Mine No. 1 on March 28, 1908 which killed more than 50 men. Subjects include relief and support of the victims' families, Inspector David M. Elias' family, expressions of sentiments, recovery of the victims' bodies, the coroner's inquest, and reports. Also included is a tribute to Inspector Elias, and a news clipping covering the first attempt to recover bodies.
