Records of appointments made and solicited. The series includes applications, recommendations, resignations, and petitions. A "miscellaneous" file at the beginning of the series contains a list of incumbents and applicants by office, and corre-spondence concerning more than one office or which does not identify a particular office. Many Senate confirmations are also included in this file.
