Records of appointments made and solicited. The series includes formal petitions and correspondence from applicants and appointees, and from their supporters and detractors. Resignations and information on bonds for some appointees are also included. A file of correspondence at the beginning of the series contains letters which discuss appointed positions but do not highlight a particular individual.
