Binkerd, Ada, 1929
Scope and Content
This collection contains various records reflecting the interests and activities of the family. The history of the Hiatt family is well-documented in correspondence to and from family members. Similarly, correspondence from friends often reveals information about their respective communities
Ervis grew up in Lynch, Nebraska. In the late 1920s and early 1930s, he took a job across the border in South Dakota but traveled back to Lynch quite frequently. During this time many young, single women from the Lynch area wrote to him. Their correspondence reveals much about the social life of young women in a small rural Nebraska town
Other records of interest are: registers of wages for labor performed; the family’s personal daily expense registers; teacher contracts; and WWII letters
