Scope and Content
This collection is divided into two parts. The first part consists of documents which fit into standard one cubic foot archival boxes; the second part consists of oversized materials such as ledgers and record books which have been placed individually on shelves
The Sheridan-Wyoming Coal Company operated several mines in Sheridan County and distributed coal throughout the region. It operated as a subsidiary of the United States Distributing Company which was based in New York. Financial records dominate the collection. The remaining records document administrative concerns, coal production, and interaction with its neighbor - Big Horn Coal Company. The Collection also includes records on the Arrowhead Coal Company, Hotchkiss Coal Company, Kleenburn Stoker Corporation, Moffat Coal Company, Peabody Coal Company, and Tongue River Trading Company, all of which were associated with or under the umbrella of the Sheridan-Wyoming Coal Company
