Department of Wyoming
Scope and Content
The United Spanish War Veterans was organized to protect and promote the interests of Spanish-American War veterans and to promote a sense of fraternity among veterans. The Department of Wyoming was originally part of the two-state Department of Colorado and Wyoming, but in 1933 was made into a seperate entity. It monitored membership in local camps and served as a central clearinghouse for dispensing national issues and aor gathering the political and social concerns of Wyoming veterans. It functioned until the mid-1960s, when most veterans had been deceased and many camps ceased to exist.
