00.26 Proficiency Assessments for Wyoming Students (PAWS), 2002-2008
Scope and Contents
Pursuant for State Law, the Wyoming Statewide Task Force on Student Assessment and Education Accountability recommended modifications to Wyoming’s Comprehensive Assessment System & WyCas). The new, modified program maintains some but not all of the features of WyCas. Established is 2004 as a modified version of WyCas, the Proficiency Assessments for Wyoming Students (PAWS) allows schools to move from the old "close down the school and test" model to a truly classroom-embedded test, allowing for a better testing environment for students, a more natural setting, more incentives for students to perform well, and a test modeled upon how students really show their best work.
